I love the green-smoothie-making creative process! Just throw any greens, fruits and liquid base in to the blender and get nourished with dark leafy greens' minerals tempered by yummy fruits!
So hydrating! And with a litre or quart bottle full it can be such a lovely distraction from any other foods for most of the day.
I recently made a green smoothie with a 1/2 bunch of dandelion greens, a 1/2 bunch of mint, 3 oranges, 2 bananas, a handful of strawberries and 2 cups water. It was so strong and bitter I kept adding water until I had almost a full blender.
It was still a bit too bitter to really be a yummy green smoothie to my taste. But it was tolerable so I sipped it over the course of the morning.
I suddenly noticed about a third of the way through that this green smoothie didn't taste bitter to me any more! What happened? I was actually enjoying this green smoothie even more than a fruit smoothie; the flavors seemed more balanced.
Could it be I learned to like the bitter taste? Could bitter really be an acquired taste? Thank you Green Smoothies! What a great way to ease in to the joys of bitterness than with a little help from sweetness!
In Joy!
