I recently released five lbs. from my tummy area doing our 21 Day Cleanse, and I feel really good at my new steady weight; 143 lbs.. Strangely, I hovered around this weight for many years but always struggled to get to between 135-137 lbs., feeling like the 140's just sounded too high. This was even though I knew from an online ideal weight calculator that 144 lbs. was a perfect weight for me based on my height (5'9") and a healthy BMI.

So I think of all those years that I was a perfect weight but fought it instead of embracing it. I wanted to be a waif instead of the amazon that I am. I've been down in my 120's and 130's and I really don't look good as a waif. It isn't me. I'm, as my mother calls it, statuesque. Some of us just take a long time to discover who we really are.

Fortunately thanks to the raw diet it isn't too late to enjoy our youth. In the raw world, youth is not simply wasted on the young, but is also available to many of us who have the maturity to enjoy it!

Last week I shared Storm's humus recipe with you. Someone mentioned leaving out the coconut would be just as nice. And that reminded me of my own humus recipe, which is much lighter and is super-simple to make, and in my opinion just as delicious!

So, here it is...

Light & Super-Simple Sprouted Humus....

1.5 c garbanzo beans, soaked for 24-48 hours (Change water every 12 hours)
1 lemon, juiced
1 clove garlic, core removed
1/4 c water
4 pinches salt

1. Put everything except salt and water in food processor and process, pulsing until ground down as much as possible
2. Add water and continue to process and pulse until cottage-cheese texture
3. Add salt and process for another 15-30 seconds

Use as a veggie dip or wrap humus in romaine lettuce with sprouts, avocado and tomato.

For those of us who are food addicts, who hurt ourselves with food, who are compulsive eaters, who are out of control and who have only found relief through a 100% raw vegan diet, welcome home.
First, I had to admit that I was an addict and that I had no control over this disease. I had to admit that I could only stay raw if I ate 100% raw. I had to be abstinent, to stay on the wagon. And to stay on the wagon, to stay abstinent, I have to eat 100% raw. Not a bite of cooked food. I have to treat myself like an alcoholic and I have to look at cooked food as alcohol.

Some of the text in the recipe I shared today came out gobbledegook in the first mailing, so here it is again below, straightened out!
Did you know that 1 cup of chick-peas / garbanzo beans and 1 cup of nuts gives you about 10 grams more protein than the recommended daily amount (RDA) of protein for men?

A cup of garbanzo beans has 39 grams of protein. A woman's RDA of protein is 46 grams. This recipe below contains 1 cup of garbanzo beans and the balance of 7 grams in the tahini, young coconut meat, and avocado, meeting your entire protein needs for the day!
